Resources

Mindfulness can begin with knowledge. It is with that understanding we have curated a list of some of our favorite books, authors, articles, and apps to explore. With so many favorites it does sometimes become hard to choose so we will be back updating this list regularly.

As we update, we love to hear your feedback on which resources you have enjoyed or maybe would like to see more of in the future.

Apps & Software

Calm

Well, you can't beat the name of this one, I feel better already! As a sleep medicine specialist as well as having suffered insomnia, I enjoy the sleep stories (which lull, relax or bore you to sleep!), extensive music selections and targeted meditations. This app may be of particular interest for those who name insomnia and tension as major concerns.

Ten Percent Happier

This app springs from Dan Harris and his book of the same name, and is the go to app for people who are not really keen on meditation but want the real deal without any new age dressing.  He has brought together some superb teachers and this app is always on my phone.

Healthy Minds Program

This app is available free, and is literally the brain child of neuroscientists associated with the Center for Healthy Minds at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Training and practice are focused on those areas in mindfulness and meditation that have been shown to have real positive effects on wellbeing and the brain.

Susan Piver
